Creating your content strategy
How do we go about creating an effective content strategy? Many businesses are at fault of building content and URLs for the sake of it, in the hope that it drives traffic. However, this can often lead to self-competition and high bounce rates.
Keyword Research
The first part of content strategy is to conduct keyword research. This means using tools such as SEMrush, Keyword Planner and Google Search Console to find what keywords you currently rank for and what to target. This also includes keyword mapping, ensuring each URL has a dedicated keyword and you do not compete with your own website.
URL Audit
A URL audit will reivew which pages are currently driving traffic to your website. Additionally, we can review where you have seen a drop in traffic either Year-on-Year or over the past few months. Doing this allows us to see what improvements we can make to exisitng pages and where there is a keyword gap that needs bridging with new content.
Copy Briefs
Once research and analysis is complete, we begin planning what copy is needed. This includes updates to existing pages and new pieces of content. I amend existing pages where possible, or provide copy briefs for your in-house team or external copywriters to target the focus keyword.
